Walking Wasson in the dark!

Tuesday Evening a friend and I decided we wanted to take an easy stroll in the desert. It wasn’t supposed to be strenuous, we just were hoping to catch some early saguaro blooms. Well, what started off as an easy stroll morphed into a full on hike up the tallest mountain peak in the Tucson Mountain range. We got up into Kings Canyon and looked at the trail sign and marking the way up the peak and just started walking that direction. We didn’t stop and really talk it over. We just kept right on marching up the path enjoying the cool night breeze and the sounds of the Sonoran Desert at night. At one point a night hawk landed right in front of us on the trail and looked as if he wasn’t going to budge as we approached. The top of the peak offers some amazing night time views. my point and shoot does not do the city lights justice. But you get the idea. I’m hoping to do some more evening hikes as the summer months approach. Southwest Trekking has all of the gear ready if anybody wants to join me.

Happy Trekking,

-Mateo
