Fall in Southern Arizona? Yes! The sky islands of southern Arizona are high enough in elevation that they do indeed experience fall colors. How about a hike through the golden brown?

Yes there’s a trail there. Even though some of the trails in southern Arizona don’t get regular use that doesn’t mean they shouldn’t be travled! Our guides are constantly scouting new trails so we have excellent knowledge of even the less utilized trails.

Southern Arizona is full of mining history, dating back to the late 1800’s this cabin was believed to have been occupied by Buffalo Bill. If you know where to look and are willing to make the trek you can find what is left of these camps. With the weather changing the time is now to get out on an adventure. Let us take you!

Rockfall happens!

Wednesday, September 21st, 2016

On one of our daily morning hikes from the JW Marriot at Starr Pass we encounter a cholla cactus outfielder that caught one of the many accounts of rockfall in the Sonoran Desert.  The hike leaves at 6:30 am and the rockfall very well could have happened just that morning because geologic time is now!  Be aware of the many ways you could get hurt in the desert whether hiking or riding and always be prepared.  Or take one of us here at Southwest Trekking with you and we’ll not only rent you a bike, gloves, helmet, and a backpack, but we’ll gladly jump in front of any rockfall, assuring you an incredible adventure in the Tucson desert.
