John and I took a drive to GPS and take notes for a road ride coming up. It leaves from the Ritz up in Marana, and heads south towards the Tucson Mountain Park, then looping back north back to the Ritz. It ended up being a little futher than we thought, clocking in at 64 miles. Luckily, the majority of the pavement is either new or in good condition, and the scenerty is enough to make the miles fly by. Although the climb back up over Gates Pass will definatly grab the attention of a tired rider.
My day off, kinda. And what do I do? I go for a ride. Arizona Trail, Redington Pass, Bellota Trail. Temperature 68 degrees F, clear skies. Big hills, up and down. Hmmmmmmmmmmmm Perfect.
I might, just might ride my bike tomorrow. Just maybe. Probably will though.

Howdy-
Took a hike out of the Ritz Carlton yesterday afternoon with a group of fun people involved in the agrigate buisness. It ended up being 8 people – which is a great group size – who all were eager to get some miles in and enjoy the wonderful weather.
We went to the Catalina State Park, located north of tucson in Marana off of Oracle Rd. The park is a great place to see the impressive North side of the Santa Catalina Mountains, and enjoy the views of Table Mountains and Leviatin Dome.
The goal was to do an out and back on the Romero Canyon Trail, with the slim chance of getting to the pools with the time constraints. Unfortunatly we didn’t have quite enough time to make it to the pools, but we did encounter water along the way. The initial wash you have to cross right at the trail head actually had a decents amount of water running down it creating a pleasent obstacle to deal with. Luckily we all made it over the stream without getting any wet feet, and all had a great time on the trail.
So if you’re in the area, check out Catalina State Park and the Romero Pools.
So it took a little longer than I had anticipated, but the movie of our ride last Monday is finally done. Check out some cool footage of the Arizona Trail near Box Canyon in the Santa Rita mountains. The footage is of us heading north towards 83 and Saharita. All the footage was shot on the Contour HD camera.
You can get the picture, tons of great trail with unrivaled scenery in the mountains.
I had a guest rent a bike from me a couple days ago, that was a regular mountain biker used to getting 25 miles in a 2 hr ride. After confidently launching in at the Bowen trailhead, he came back asking for the bike trail. I again showed him the Richard E. Genser trailhead on the map. I suggested that as he is not at all used to our terrain, he might want to think of this ride as more of a skills workshop day than getting his miles in. I just ran into hom in the lobby. My advise worked he had an awesome time that will live in his memory and his skill set for life.
Its gonna be another week of our common winter weather! For any of you who aren’t from around here, that means sunny days in the 70′s. We will endure though, were resilient. So get out there and enjoy these great temps. Just think of people hold up in their houses freezing. That should motivate you to enjoy the beauty all around you. Get out in nature, or better yet let us take you there!
So, check out the video below. I am not sure. Let me know what you think, but be nice. It is a first draft.

So a group of us went on a little ride yesterday on the Arizona Trail. There were four of us; John, Steve, Ken, and me. The plan was to get dropped off at Box Canyon near Kentucky camp, and ride North to Pistol Hill Rd. It would be about 40 miles, mostly downhill, through the super scenic Santa Rita mountains, under I-10 and across the foothills of the Rincon range. Not the most epic ride, but pretty intense. So we went off and soon realized that someone in our group would not survive a ride like that. I’m not into naming names, but in this case, it was John. He was having some troubles with the uphills, so we cut it short and had someone pick us up at Sahurita and 83. Still provided us the oprotunity to ride 21 miles.
We did take some photos, and a bunch of footage with the little contour camera so we plan on putting together a little video. Check back soon to see it.
